Peter is the Co-Founder and now Executive Chairman of Omnii Consulting Fire Engineers and has over 26 years’ experience in the Building and Construction, Fire Protection and Fire Safety industries.
As Executive Chairman, Peter has responsibility for Board Leadership, interfacing with the CEO, ensuring all parties are adhering to the mission statement, review of compliance issues, provision of guidance on market issues impacting the company, and to ensure ethical business practices are in place.
Peter has significant consulting engineering expertise. This includes an intimate technical knowledge of all facets of fire protection services and fire safety engineering and a myriad of project delivery methods and risk mitigation techniques.
Consequently, Peter has provided an advisory role to a number of Government Departments and has been engaged as an Expert Witness in varying jurisdictions across Australia.
Wayne is Omnii’s CEO and oversees all aspects of Omnii’s growth, innovation, marketing and HR activities – with a distinct hands-on approach.
A Chartered Engineer and Executive with over 30 years’ experience in consulting engineering, public policy and research – Wayne is a passionate leader. Client centricity is a key aspect of Wayne’s philosophy and he believes that it is a key quality which leaders in consulting engineering should have.
Technically, he has been at the forefront in the development and application of innovation in engineering, and technical code and standards development and research globally. He has represented the engineering profession on various international committees, working groups and expert panels and has advised governments and authorities in Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
Marcello is a Director of Omnii based in Omnii’s Victorian office and has over 15 years’ experience. He has responsibility for all the technical aspects of Omnii and contributes to the management and marketing of the business.
He assists building owners and designers to deliver safe and reliable buildings in a cost-effective manner via the implementation of the Performance Based Building Code in generating Alternate Solutions for fire and life safety systems.
Marcello is fully conversant with Fire Engineering, undertaking fire, smoke and evacuation modelling. He also has experience and is knowledgeable in fire protection services and design including fire sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, emergency warning and smoke detection systems.
Andrew is a Director of Omnii based in Omnii’s Brisbane office. He brings over 20 years’ experience in the construction and fire safety industry to the team.
Andrew has an extensive track record in the delivery of high-profile Fire Engineering projects and has provided an advisory role to a number of Government Departments on matters pertaining to fire safety.This significant consulting engineering experience extends to Fire Engineering, Fire Risk Assessment and Fire Safety Management for major projects throughout Australia and Europe.
Team focused, Andrew works collaboratively and utilises his extensive knowledge of both Australian and international fire codes to deliver innovative and cost-effective building solutions whilst ensuring life safety is paramount.
Nick is a Principal with Omnii and has 19 years’ experience in the construction and fire safety industry. He has consulted on projects across Australia specialising in Fire Engineering, Fire Risk Assessment and Fire Safety Management.
He has worked on projects covering many markets and ranging in size from small tenancy fit outs all the way up to Airport Link Road tunnel. He is highly skilled both technically and in many other competencies including his extensive multidisciplinary work and project management skills. Nick takes a practical and innovative approach to Fire Safety Engineering, and actively works to produce design solutions which are safe, flexible, functional and cost effective.
Nick has extensive experience in undertaking performance based fire engineering designs and analysis, including fire modelling studies, risk based approach to fire scenario evaluations, evacuation modelling, smoke production and behaviour analysis. He proactively focuses on working with the client, building owners, architects, design teams, building certifiers and fire authorities to ensure the client’s design objectives are achieved.
Dwayne is a Senior Associate with Omnii’s Brisbane office and is the Discipline Leader of our Fire Protection Services division.
Dwayne has over 12 years experience in fire services design in a variety of sectors. He has had a particular focus in health, defence and major transport projects including road tunnels and aircraft hangars.
This range of project exposure has given Dwayne the opportunity to design complex fire protection systems, including fire sprinkler, fire detection and alarm systems, fire hydrant and hose reel systems. Dwayne is also proficient with special hazards system design, with experience in water mist, foam and gaseous fire suppression system designs.
Dwayne is also an experienced Fire Safety Engineer, undertaking assessments on a variety of building types, including education, aircraft hangars and defence special structures.
As an Associate with over 10 years’ experience in the fire and life safety industry, Chris leads Omnii’s Melbourne Engineering team.
Accomplished in delivering specialised fire strategy designs and cost-effective solutions, Chris’ portfolio includes work within many building classifications such as high-rise and super high-rise buildings, mixed-use buildings, shopping centres and transportation complexes. Chris takes pride in providing creative, efficient solutions, and maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.
Furthermore, Chris has extensive experience assisting owners responding to Building Notices, combustible cladding assessments, and bringing these buildings into compliance through the Building Appeals Board process.
Hansika is an Associate with Omnii’s Brisbane office in our Fire Protection Services division.
Hansika has over 18 years’ experience in providing Fire Protection Engineering services on diverse projects internationally across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Sri Lanka. She is well versed with both design and installation aspects of fire protection systems as a subcontractor and a consultant.
Hansika has developed extensive experience in designing and managing challenging building design projects for private and government clients across a number of different sectors.
Graham is an Associate in Omnii’s Brisbane office and has over 40 years’ experience in the field of fire safety and fire engineering. Graham’s wide-ranging experience has allowed him to develop innovative and cost-effective fire engineered Performance Solutions for both building and infrastructure projects.
Graham has undertaken testing and applied research into the performance of fire detection and suppression systems. This has given Graham a fundamental understanding of how these various systems operate, as well their suitability to different building and infrastructure applications.
Project experience is wide and varied, having developed fire engineered solutions for above and below ground infrastructure projects as well as high rise commercial, residential and major shopping centre buildings. With respect to infrastructure projects, this includes road and bus tunnels and developing fire safety strategies to manage impact of fire on structural elements, ventilation and spread of smoke, and managing the movement of people within tunnels to places of relative safety.
Graham has also contributed to the development of fire engineering in Australia participating in the Warren Centre project (1989 – 1991) and Fire Code Reform Centre (1992 – 1996), and education of practitioners via lecturing at Queensland University of Technology, Victoria University, University of Western Sydney and University of Technology Sydney.
Gerard is an Associate at Omnii and he specialises in all aspects of the design, documentation and commissioning of fire protection services, particularly commercial developments, aviation, industrial and health care buildings.
He has a thorough understanding of fire services design issues, including interpreting client’s requirements, building regulations, system concept development and detail design documentation.
Gerard also brings his design experience of fire protection systems for areas of high critical importance, such as computer rooms and hazardous areas.
Walther is an Associate based at Omnii’s Brisbane office and has provided consultancy services for over 25 years in various industries such as a fire safety, fire protection and mechanical engineering.
He is well versed in undertaking fire safety performance solutions, fire protection designs, fire safety audits and industrial fire risk mitigation measures.
Walther has a strong technical foundation in fire safety and fire protection engineering. His mechanical and fire protection background allows him to identify opportunities to rationale fire safety design and deliver cost effective and practical fire safety solutions.
Walther has delivered projects across a range of sectors, including residential, hospitality, shopping centres, airport, harbour, defence and mining.
Harley Whaikawa is an Associate with Omnii’s Brisbane office. He has a degree in Civil Engineering with specific knowledge in tall reinforced concrete structures.
Harley has published a technical paper explaining the magnitude of axial shortening and differential shortening in tall concrete buildings, specifically the Q1 Tower building on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
His Fire Engineering experience covers a wide range of commercial developments, including residential districts, high-rise office and retail. Harley also has specialised experience in atrium design, stadiums, hospitals and Australian Defence Force projects.
The introduction of the NCC Clause A2.2(4) on 1 July 2021 has resulted in a change to the process for developing Performance Solutions. The Omnii Team
